THQ and Obsidian Making a South Park RPG

Strange as it sounds, Game Informer has announced that sometime next year we will be getting a full-blown South Park RPG that seems to be paying homage to Trey Parker and Matt Stone's love of gaming and MMOs in particular. It's been awhile since we've had a large South Park game like this (all I remember from the N64 FPS is the damn constantly-gobbling turkeys), so it will be interesting to see what they have in store.

They have described the game as an "ambitious project" and judging from the cover shown at Game Informer we can infer that it will hearken back to South Park's "WoW episode" and will feature a gamut of characters from ManBearPig to Satan. Apparently, you will play as a new kid in the town of South Park and you have to defend your home against all foes foreign and domestic.

What do you think? Do you like a little humor in your gaming every once in a while? While this game may be a rental for many (or ignored altogether), you can bet that many casual gamers that love South Park will be picking the game up. This one is being helmed by Stone and Parker and put together by the people that gave us Fallout: New Vegas and Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic 2: The Sith Lords, so maybe it will be something worthwhile.
