False Alarm: KaKaRoTo's Jailbreak Was Not Leaked
KaKaRoTo rarely ever blows his cool, but yesterday he did and with good reason. KaKaRoTo was gutted when he realised his jailbreak routine could have been leaked. He quickly began questioning several people including Matheiulh which eventually lead him to the conclusion that other people out there have genuinely figured out the same methods.
KaKaRoTo wrote a message addressing the subject, read it below:
Ok, so I dug and figured out what happened... GOOD NEWS! There was no leak! Although you never really know, but I'm more and more convinced that it wasn't a leak.
So first of all, thank you to all who gave their support and the twitter flood was extreme. I am really happy to see that many concerned users in the scene, with a very few exceptions, I noticed that most people were disgusted and unhappy with the leak, someone summed it up pretty nicely "While I should be happy that it's leaked, I'm not, I'm disgusted, I don't even want to use it now". So thank you, with your support, you have given me joy and the confidence that this scene has a lot more voices than the few angry haters.
That being said, here's an explanation of what happened.
Someone came to talk to me on IRC asking "Is this how you did ? " and he gave some explanation.. which was true. At that point, it could be either coincidence or a leak, but what made me believe in a leak is that he said something (which I can't really tell what it is) that was very unique and special and weird and you wouldn't expect it (even if you found the same 'exploit'), and that little detail was specific to my jailbreak. Unfortunately, the guy went offline before I could reply to him, so all I could see was that it was a leak.After going around, only 6 people actually knew of the jailbreak's method, and I spoke to all of them and I trust them all and I'm sure none of them spoke about it with anyone. It turns out, the person who approached me asking "is this how you did : .... " had not received any information from anyone. When I finally caught him online and asked him where he got that information, I realized that it was simply someone who was clever enough to figure it out.
As for that one detail that was quite unique to my jailbreak, it turns out it was miscommunication.. the guy meant something completely different from what I understood, and yes, I guess I was just being paranoid and I interpreted it in one way. But when he explained what he meant by it, it made sense... now that I read his message again, I see exactly what he meant, but since I couldn't understand it first, the only way I could interpret it was to understand it as being that detail specific to my method. Life is hard when one word/sentence can be interpreted in multiple valid ways...
So anyways, that's how it is, it looks like nothing was leaked, so everyone's happy now. But this was a wake up call actually, it just reinforced that I should be even more cautious and avoid talking about it to anyone until it's ready.
On that note, progress was made even though I'm on vacation, and it's going well, I won't say anything else :)

Guess there’s nothing to worry about. KaKaRoTo is continuing his work with the 3.73 Jailbreak and said that he’s play around with 4.00 later on.

What's the point of a 3.73 jailbreak, when you can't run backup managers? If it lacks peek and poke, then it seems pointless. Crippled even. It adds NOTHING that 3.55CFW can't already do, which is basically Showtime and emulators.
duude, just calm down and watch. Do not update to 4.00 or u'll miss the fun.
The point is to allow people who had their consoles updated or purchased with a higher firmware than 3.55 to use homebrew. The point is to allow you to play newer games on consoles with CFW without needing to spoof or update. Chill dude, and let KaKaRoTo continue his awesome work. +1 RoTo, keep up the great work!
i dont think the great kakaroto will keep everyones mind on dis jailbreak if its not goin to be smthn awesom. i'm sure he wont let us down. i'm 90% SURE even u will not be dissapointed when kakaroto finishes d jailbreak. he once mentiond of the ps3 having 3 kinds of jails right?..d 1st jail is beign able to install apps..which hes done dat alredy. d second jail is beign able to run apps..and d 3rd is to the backup part. if he wasnt goin to make d 2nd and 3rd jail broken den he wdnt be workin on d jailbreak now..he wld hav released it as it is now.yeah i knw he once said dat d second jail and 3rd jail are not his ways. but he knws oda great guys right?..he knws math..he knws kmeaw and odas..dis jb is gona be awesom..u'll see:-)
you clearly did not read the original post about his jailbreak (or didn't understand it) he said his 3.73 jailbreak allows him to install packages and that he will leave it up to others to figure out how to get those packages to run after installing them and even went so far as to say that this method of jailbreaking doesn't support peak-n-poke meaning no backup managers can ever be made to run via his 3.73 exploit.

Wait, so will this only work if you bought a PS3 with a base firmware higher than PS3? Because I bought my PS3 with 3.00 firmware, and I've never ever jailbroken my PS3 before, but I want to use this jailbreak though

I must first give respect to KaKaRoTo. This is my very first post, though I have followed this forum for awhile now. What brings this comment out from me is that I am utterly appalled at how many people come here seeking a breakthrough.Yet we have a man here that is not only working on that solution but is devoted to (and this is what is utterly appalling) an ungrateful audience. This does not include everyone. My question is, why come here seeking any solution if you cannot show respect or even less, patience. Respect is due once earned and I personally think everyone here owes him that, otherwise, why are you here? Patience is a virtue as "Rome wasn't built in a day". Meaning, with all that went on with sony, it is only wise for him to be cautious and ask that his community just be "patient". So again, my respect goes to KaKaRoTa.As for the extinct of the JB, everything, like everyone started with baby steps, which only puts us 1 step at a time closer to where we want to be.Closing statement, or should I say final thought. If fools had brains the world would suffer from stupidity.

HI GUYS, IVE KNOWN ABOUT HACKING ETC FOR ABIT NOW AND HAVE ONLY JUST GOT AROUND TO LEARNING ABOUT HACKING MY PS3 TO PLAY THE BACKUPS ETC, IT IS CURRENTLY ON FW 4.00. I HAVE READ ON A COUPLE OFF SITES THAT THIS CAN BE DONE BUY CREATING A USB FLASH DRIVE??? I HAVE DOWNLOADED WHAT IS APPARENTLY THE CORRECT FILE CREATED THE FLASH DRIVE E.G. FORMAT PSR FOLDER UPDATE FOLDER THEN ADD THE FILE I DOWNLOADED TO THE UPDAT FOLDER, NOW WHEN I COME TO UPDAT VIA MEDIA DATA ON THE PS3 IT SAYS THERE IS NO FILE CAN BE FOUND??? CAN SOMEBODY PLEASE SEND ME ALL THE RELEVAN INFORMATION VIA EMAIL WITH LINKS TO THE DL'S ETC AND A STEP BY STEP GUIS IN WHICH TO JAILBRAEK 4.00 PS3 AND RUN BACKUPS.
