lol @ the "60 million dollar bribe" now just time to sign our code lol. But what sony can do is correct the mistake in future firmwares by correcting that so called "epic fail" in which they mistakenly provided a way to get the asymmetric root key to the ps3. They may allow all previous games to run, but will most likely change the master key to the ps3 in future firmware update and correct their mistake. This will in turn allow future games/software to use the new master key and for all of us who might want to play the 'new' games will be forced to update our firmware in order to play it due to the new key which older firmware revisions won't recognize. iono lol i'm talking out of my arse!!
changing the key in a future firmware is absolutely useless. all we have to do is sign our own code that decrypts anything encrypted with the new key.
but how would one decrypt new firmwares if sony signs and encrypts them with a new master key and algorithms. To decrypt something one would need to know the encryption key to decrypt it and if sony changes that in new firmwares then we wouldn't be able to. Yes we can decrypt up 3.55 as of now, but what does the future hold in store? Sony can grab every file of every game produced so far run MD5 algorithms and load the hashes in newer firmware updates to allow the older games to run WITHOUT the risk of the actual files on the games being modified in anyway. It's to my understanding that if one changes a file in anyway, then the MD hash also changes. They can use the MD5 hashes as a 'check' in order to see if the files are still original. I maybe completely wrong here, I am a biologist going to pharmacy school. :P
That's not necessarily true, SONY will come to terms with the fact they've lost half the battle, and will have no option but to accept that all games to date can be subject to Jailbreak, and will most likely up their impetus on banning consoles from online play, though with a new root key we simply can't just decrypt a whole new security pass, Similar work would be need to be done again by Hackers, though with a method established, it really would be another cat and mouse with various minor updates.That being said - As of Firmware 3.5 and below - We have won the war.
... No. Once your entire security system has been thoroughly destroyed, there is absolutely nothing (in principle) you can do to prevent someone from circumventing any future changes you make.
sony give you an option to update firmware it is not mandatory. they cannot just change code and stop people playing older titles on older master key. new systems will have to have new and old keys to play all titles.seriously the ps3 is hacked and sony would sell more units if it stays hacked for good.

duh you just enter the keys into your ps3 through the gaia manager and wham you no longer need to jailbreak... lol jk just jerk it and let the devs handle this

Hello everyone. I wanted to thank all those involved in this project. Now that Linux comes back to the PS3.
I'm not 100% sure, but with this, cfw is not necessary, the whole point of cfw is to run unsigned code, with this, you can sign the code, so you just leave your ps3 as normal.I'm sure someone is going to just sign backup manager and you'll be able to run it without the jailbreak.

anybody asking how to use these codes is a fucking idiot. these code are for devs only, they are useless to me and you.the only reason we need to know about these is so we know to expect more homebrew advances in the coming months.

this is probably the best news ill hear for this whole year. i cant wait to play emulators and even use some really cool apps for my ps3. just imagine what will be possible on this machine. does anyone know if the custom firmware installation will be similar to the psp method?
even if they change the keys in the future unless they make the old keys not be able to be used from programs on the hdd then their is no way for them to stop us, they cant tell what program is our and which is theirs (aka a demo vs a signed emulator) without having you conect to the internet and verify the program before execution...

Now this is just a theory but, what is stopping sony from putting firmware updates on their games and forcing people to update. That way if they did change the code it wouldn't matter bc with the new games you would be forced to go to it. Kinda like how the nintendo wii has firmware updates on the dvd
metldr is unlocked sony can't change that in future firmwares. appldr they can and various other keys. but once we have the root (metldr) you can get the rest.so basically there's nothing that can be done to prevent this.

Umm... firmware checks look at >= if you sign a firmware called 9.9 or whatever, then you pass the check and the game plays
